Product Description

The Technics SL-1200G turntable incorporates a newly developed coreless direct-drive motor with no iron core that eliminates cogging. The twin-rotor construction reduces the bearing load while maintaining high torque and reduces minute vibration (cogging) during rotation. This brings out the warm, exquisitely detailed sound of the finest analogue records.

The SL-1200G achieves the highest level of rigidity and vibration damping by implementing a three-layered construction with a combination brass and aluminum die-cast platter. It includes a rubber platter mat that eliminates remaining resonances.

The Technics SL-1200G delivers smooth, rotational stability, surpassing the SP-10MK2, the direct-drive turntable standard used by broadcast stations worldwide. It has twice the inertial mass of the SL-1200MK5. The balance of the Technics SL-1200G is adjusted at the factory by using specialized, high-precision equipment.

The tonearm of the Technics SL-1200G turntable is constructed using lightweight magnesium which has a high overall damping effect. The SL-1200G’s high compliance is achieved with the traditional Technics gimbal suspension construction with horizontal rotation axis and the vertical rotation axis intersecting at a single central point.
Lastly, the SL-1200G offers brass-milled, gold-plated phono terminals and ground terminals to prevent the degradation of sound quality over time. The shielded chassis reduces the effects of external noise.

Technics began creating turntables in 1965. Undeniably, Technics has made many turntable innovations, including the invention of the direct-drive turntable. Technics' mission has remained the same for years. They pursue definitive sound, to stay at the forefront of digital audio, and to instill timeless designs into every audio product they release.

Technics released impressive turntable models throughout the years, having a captivating history from the 1970's to present day. Notably, the original Technics SL-1200 turntable was considered one of the best models for DJ'ing, because of its monumental design, its performance, and its durability.

In comparison to the earlier SL-1200's, the new and improved turntable, the Technics SL-1200G offers superior sound quality and design improvements. It is perfect for home use. Whereas the the new SL-1200GR makes those improvements more affordable. And the reference SL-1000R proves that Technics turntables are as relevant today as they were in the 70's.
